It is the year of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. I hope my readers and followers were able to get tickets for her concert. Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky ones, no matter how hard I tried. I just get to enjoy her music through Spotify and I Heart Radio. I sound a little sour about it don’t I? I am but the idea of an Eras Tour got me thinking. We tend to label parts of our lives like chapters in a book. Chapter One, my youth, Chapter Two my college years, Chapter Three, divorce and etc. The definition of Era is, “A fixed point in time which a series of years is reckoned.” Merriam-Webster. Taylor Swift’s tour is a New Era for her and her fans, especially after the pandemic halted all of the concerts and live shows. My intuition told me that this would be a great representation of how an individual can start a new Chapter or Era in their lives.
Life can be so difficult and sometimes we just want a fresh start. I just started Season 4 of my Podcast and Blog, so I always love to start a new season off with something new and exciting. I truly believe that it is so important to have goals that we want to accomplish. What better way to acknowledge this transitional time period with a title, like, “New Era of You.” I am titling the next stage of my life as this because I am about to be an Empty Nester so it truly is a new Era for me. I always try to lead by example and I hope to share my experiences in the New Era of Me.
How do you want to start the New Era of You? You don’t have to have a major life change like becoming an Empty Nester to make a commitment to start a New Chapter in your life. Sometimes we just need a refresh, start in a new direction or explore new and exciting things in our lives. I think it is beneficial to put a title to this new change in your life. It makes this period of your life concrete and guides you in a new direction. When you feel like you are losing focus you just repeat the name of the New Chapter in your life and it helps to guide you to get back on track. When you are writing an article or book you create an outline for yourself to keep the flow on track. This is a great direction for you in starting the New Era of You. Sit with yourself and your thoughts for awhile and create an outline for yourself to identify the key goals that you would like to accomplish in this time of personal growth.
Complete your outline and then I want you to look at it in it’s entirety. Identify the theme that seems to repeat itself throughout the outline. Create a title for your outline, which will be the title of the New Era of You. Next step is my favorite part! I want you to chose your own Theme Song. Take your time with this process because you want to get it just right. Research and find a song that encompasses your feelings, how you see this chapter in your life and that represents well the goals you want to accomplish. My theme song is “All I know so Far,” by PiNK! I set a goal for myself to listen to the song in it’s entirety at least once a day and I even have my phone ringer set to the song. I believe this really keeps me on track and staying focused on the direction I want my life to move. When my phone rings it’s a constant reminder of the direction and path that I am on. Remain open minded and open your heart to the words of your own Theme Song.
I get chills of excitement knowing that you are all about to start a new journey of self-care, self-improvement and self-motivation. I am here for all of that and I will be starting a new trend in my blogs to assist you with your self-care. I try out a lot of products to aid in self-care and I will be sharing them with you here. It will be only recommendations and of course this is an individual process wether you want to utilize any of these tools in your own personal journey. I would love if you have any self-care ideas that you would like to share, please send them to me.
The process can be hard to get started and you may get stuck at first, but persevere in your process. Remember, the more work you put into this idea the more successful you will become. Take time alone, pick a title, create an outline and pick a theme song for the New Era of You. You may even want to create a logo or art to go further in your process of identifying the direction of your new beginning. Remember, don’t give up when things get tough. The most monumental and lasting changes in ones life is when they push through the mountains, hills and valleys that a change of direction may entail. Dig deep and stay committed to yourself and this process of a new chapter in your life.
On your mark, get set and go! Start the NEW ERA OF YOU!
