I have so much to say and so little to say. This Country is so divided. We have to make a decision, do you share your beliefs or do you keep quiet. The observations I have documented are astounding and disturbing at times. The dynamics that are created over an election are like nothing we see in any other areas of our lives. To be honest, it appears to me that many have changed and have become shells of themselves. People seem to lose their common decency and courtesy to others.

I look at the world so different today than I did as a young adult. I haven’t changed but the Country has.  People respected the office of the President and no matter who the President was we accepted it.  There was the normal partisan division but it was more decent. If that even makes sense.  The old adage still stood then, ” Never talk politics with friends or family.”  Ok, and if you did it would be a big discussion. Today, if you discuss politics it could be the end of a relationship. This concept just blows my mind.  People would actually end a relationship for their political beliefs? Listen, if their beliefs are radical I get walking away. This should be a rare occurrence in today’s world. I am just baffled by the behaviors I see in others.

I am a very political person and I am proud of this. The beauty of America is our right to vote and decide on who we want our leaders to be.  I have stifled my political nature since the last general election. I used to love shouting out on social media who I was voting for and supporting. I never expected to be verbally abused and threatened. I actually felt scared.  I have interviewed many people and I find this is a common feeling among those of us who are political.  What the hell has happened to the people of this great country?  Why can’t we agree to disagree? The reality is there is minimal common ground in our Country today.

The soul of America has changed.  This can be very frustrating, but there are still so many ways to still express yourself politically without the fear of retribution.  You see it’s all how you look at the situation.  I have found private groups on social media where I can express myself fully and freely. It is a beautiful thing because I still get to have my freedom of expression without the other side trying to take my voice away.  I see people post don’t share politics here,  I will block you, unfriend you or expect my wrath.  First of all who the hell do they think they are that they can control others that way? I mean really?  We all have a voice to express our feelings anyway that we choose.  I feel free now that I have found an outlet to still express myself.  If you are someone who can relate to this, just know that you can still have your freedom of speech.  There are so many outlets out there on social media, groups you can attend and like minded people you can talk too.  If you disagree with me, that is ok.  I just hope that you are not that person who verbally abuses others, screams in their faces, rips down political signs in yards or tries to start a fight over politics.  If you are saying yes, then please try to find ways to stand by your candidate without creating such disruption.  We can all support our candidates and still respect others.  Respect Others, Respect Yourself.
