I would first like to thank all of you who helped me Celebrate my 100the Podcast Episode! It warms my heart to have so many of my listeners, readers and followers share in this Journey with me.

I don’t know about you but I am Freakin Excited about P!nk’s new album “Trustfall!” If you haven’t figured it out by now P!nk is my favorite artist.  Let’s be honest she is a true Icon! I put my husband to work the day her presale tickets came out to try to get me the best seats possible without breaking our wallets. He was completely successful! Let’s put that aside for a moment and let me talk about why she is more then a talented artist.

P!nk has been on a media blitz promoting her new album. Obviously, but there is so much more to this and what the critics have been saying about her lyrics.  She has always had a way of relating to her audience along with many other artists.  The difference this time is it is her first album since the Pandemic.  Many of our lives have changed in a permanent way through Covid. The jury is in and most have said that her lyrics are phenomenal in the way they touch and relate to the listener.

Music is a melody that makes our heart and head sing. In my therapy groups I have used music for years as a catalyst to create great discussion and internal insight with my clients. I truly believe music is true magic to our souls.  A great oldie that my clients would love is “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips. The lyrics and the instrumental just helped to open them up to looking deep with inside themselves to help them cope through adversity. “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus has helped many through challenges.  I was fortunate to hear her sing this song live at the “March for Our Lives” march in Washington D.C. after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting and her words truly were so meaningful to myself and the marchers.  Green Day’s song “Good Riddance” is another great hit that makes the listener think about the times in their lives that were memorable and to focus on some of those times when things get tough. Lauren Spencer Smith’s song “Best Friend Breakup” lyrics can really help when you are having issues with friends or toxic people in you life.

Music is truly a form of therapy for millions.  I would like you, my reader, to think how you can you use music as a way to help you express yourself, cope through difficult times and to celebrate the triumphs in life.  I have been listening for many hours outside, in my car and even while I am typing this to P!nk’s new album.  The journey starts as I listen to her song “Turbulence.”  I encourage you to look up the lyrics or even listen to the song.

Life is truly a Bumpy Road that we all must travel on throughout our lives. Sometimes the Bumps can be so rough we just don’t know how to cope and sometimes we don’t cope. I encourage you to always try to reframe your thoughts when you are feeling frazzled or your mind goes to a dark and dysfunctional place.  I am in the business of reframing others thought process as well as my own thoughts and situations that happen in life. This is where “Turbulence” comes into play. I listened very carefully to the lyrics of her song and why the title was “Turbulence.”  When I was done listening for a few times a smile curled up from my mouth because I was overwhelmed by the word “Turbulence.”  The average person thinks of this term as what happens to us when we are on a plane, especially during takeoff and landing.  You know exactly what I am talking about. The plane glides through an air pocket and suddenly the plan rises and then drops for a short time. Picture yourself when you have experienced this when traveling. The plane hits that Turbulence and you grab the armrests of your chair, your stomach drops, your heart begins to pound and you might even let out a noise of panic. I have even been known to cross my fingers and begin to pray when I experience Turbulence or I just grab my Husband’s arm.

Turbulence is feeling out of control and you just pray it will stop. Eventually, the Turbulence ends, we eventually land and head off to our destination and move on.  So here it comes, what if we reframe our minds when we are having difficulty coping as it’s just Turbulence?  I mean this is genius of her to create a song like this for the world to experience.  I challenge you in the future when life gets tough and you feel out of control tell yourself that it is just Turbulence. The ride might be a little rough but you know that just like the planes Turbulence it will end and you will be able to move forward.  I personally will be using this as a personal mantra when I am struggling and I will tell myself that it is just Turbulence.  I will get through the Bumpy Ride even if it lasts for some time. Ultimately, it is just Turbulence and I will get to the other side of it.  Mind over matter has been proven to change our thought process and lead us positively into a healthy future for ourselves.

PS Listen for yourself to P!nk”s new album “Trustfall” and please take a listen to “Turbulence.”  Trust me it has totally given me a new way to handle the big and small complications in my life ,it’s just Turbulence.
