It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
IS IT REALLY?
We are all about to close the book on the year 2020. I am aware that most people don’t like to wish away time; however, with the Pandemic 2020 many of us are ready to put this year behind us.
SELF INVENTORY FOR 2020
I recently published my Podcast Episode 30 where I discuss taking our individual self inventory for the past year. Self Inventory is not a New Years Resolution. This technique is more focused on you looking within inside yourself to identify the positive and negative coping skills that you have utilized this past year. Set some time aside where you can create a list of your Self Inventory. This is a time for you to dig deep and to be honest with yourself on your accomplishments of coping and the areas that you need to still work on. In my podcast I discuss my 2020 Self Inventory. This will provide you with a guideline on how to create you own personal list. I mention my rescue dog and how she has provided me with a way to cope with stressful situations. Nature and spending time outside have also made a positive impact on my life. Access my podcast in the social media links and listen to episode 30 so that you can take the positive steps to put a close on this year and focus on your needs for the upcoming year.
HOLIDAY FUNK
Episode 30 also allows me the opportunity to discuss my Holiday Funk. I discuss how I identified I was in a funk and how I began to cope with it. Through research I also came to the realization that I am not alone and others are going through these same feelings this year. We are all living in tough times with the Pandemic. The research has shown that we are all having to adjust to the new way we are celebrating and experiencing the holiday season this year. This is where the funk connects with our experiences of the holidays. The reality is that the holidays are not the same this year. I personally miss the shopping, the holiday decorations in the malls, the family and friend gatherings and just feeling the good vibes of the season. The world is going through a trauma with sickness, death, financial difficulties, food insecurities and it can be very hard to compartmentalize all of the these emotions. I created my Self Inventory to identify what direction I need to go in the coming year and ways to cope with the trauma.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
There is a light at the end of this very long tunnel. We have a vaccine that will hopefully allow us to regain some of our freedom. The future is bright because the world now has a way to fight this virus along with mask wearing. We will gain more control over our individual lives. The Future does Look Bright and next year the Holiday Season will be festive full of family gatherings and lots of Holiday Cheer. Hold on just a little longer by creating a Self Inventory and identifying coping skills to help you get through the Funk and onto to a New and Bright future in the coming new year.
