If you have your own business or work for a company, you will often hear talk about Branding.  Branding is what attracts customers to your products, image and advertising.  It really has become an integral part of a successful company.  Look at Apple, the logo is an Apple.  When we see an Apple logo we automatically know that it is representing Apple Technology. Excellent branding for such a successful company and I would argue that the Apple Logo was a big part of the company’s success. Oh Oh, what about Starbucks now that is some amazing Branding.  The color green and the beautiful mermaid is so eye catching.

We all know a company’s branding is more than just their logo. The way a company advertises, presents their products to their consumer and respects their buyers determines how successful the company will be.  I am sure you can think of companies that have failed due to poor management and advertising. Knowing your audience and demographics are very important in a thriving company.

Have you ever thought of yourself as a Brand?  Celebrities and Public Figures also require good Branding.  If you are a Reality Television addict like me you will hear them actually talk about their Branding.  The Reality Star Personalities have to be very careful with what they put out into the world and their image.

I will ask the question again, “Have you ever thought of yourself as a Brand?”  We can all look at ourselves as a Brand.  I know, you might be puzzled by this question so let me elaborate.  I want you to think for a moment, how would your friends and family describe you? Your appearance, the tone of your voice, how you express yourself, how you represent yourself when in a group, your demeanor, communication skills, interpersonal skills, approachable, assertive, aggressive, argumentative, unkempt, disorganized, hyperactive and talk too fast.  I could truly go on and on to describe the ways that we can present ourselves to others and the world.  The reality of these descriptions are that they are your Brand to the world.  Yes, how you put yourself out there is how others think of you and what they expect of you.  I want you to think for a moment of how you show the world who you are.  What would be your current Brand of yourself and how successful do you think you would be if your were a business, celebrity or public figure.  This does not mean that you should not be true to who you are.  I will always encourage everyone to be Authentic.  The customer who is your friends, family, coworkers and individuals at social gatherings are where you present your Brand.

Are you content and happy with the way you present your Brand to people in your life?  I believe we are a work in progress and that each and everyone of us can always improve on our presentation and the way we interact with others.  Personally, since the Pandemic I have had a lot of time to think about how my Personal Brand is put out to my world.  I have my Brand for my Podcast which is a whole other set of Branding.

Think a moment on how well you have evolved in your world.  This is where you start to think about your own Personal Brand. Make a list of ways that you are pleased with how you show the world who you are.  Next, make a list of how you would like to change certain behaviors, interpersonal relations, communication, your appearance and what you stand for.  I close my eyes often and think how do I believe others see me or would describe me.  This vision is constantly changing as I evolve because we are all constantly a work in progress.  Wide Open Spaces with Ilise, Episode 88 is and accompaniment to this Blog that will explore ways in which we can all identify and work on our own Personal Branding.
