We all live an Inner Bubble that lies within our thoughts.  Our brains have so much going on at one time that it would take a detective to decipher the chaos.  This is fine as our brains are developed to handle multitasking.  The glitches start to happen when there becomes a strain on our mental health.  We all would love to ignore these glitches but things begin to breakdown if these struggles are not addressed.

Mental Health over the decades has had such a negative stigma.  This has created an increase in individuals hiding or struggling alone with their mental health issues.  I am sure we all know someone who struggles but does not share or even acknowledge that they are experiencing mental health issues.  Studies have shown that at least 50% of the worlds population will struggle with mental health in their lifetime.  Prior to the Pandemic most people did not openly discuss their mental health.  Most either would seek help privately or would stay in denial that they needed help. Many people had a hard time accepting they were struggling or did not believe in therapy, possibly creating their own personal hell.

If you could say that there was a positive outcome of the Covid Pandemic it would have to be how mental health has been recognized in the forefront in today’s society.  I truly believe it all started when we were stuck at home.  Our worlds were void of chaos and stimulation.  This quiet time and isolation began to highlight for many their mental health struggles.  It was almost as if a magnifying glass was placed on mental health and the world was beginning to see the importance of diagnosing and seeking help to create a balance in life.  Acknowledging that you need help is, “Building Your Inner Strength.

Gosh, as a teenager I always wanted to be famous.  All that I knew is that I wanted to be in the spotlight because society placed such a heavy importance on celebrity.  If you were a celebrity you had reached the epitome of success.  In adulthood I felt that celebrity was more of a self-absorbed profession and not all that I believed it to be.  I mean just to go see your favorite artist in concert was a small fortune. In the spotlight the famous always like to present themselves as perfect, almost as if their worlds never had struggles.  The Pandemic created an evolution even amongst the celebrity. Celebrities began to realize that to connect with their fans it was important to be real.  This is where beauty came from tragedy.

I recently have watched some documentaries on the famous.  I would like to commend these artists.  Selena Gomez documentary, ” My Mind & Me” takes you on a journey with her and identifying that she has Bi-polar Disorder.  It honestly was painful to watch her decompensate in her life.  The beauty came when she was diagnosed and she got professional help.  The documentary still showed her struggles but it also showed her accomplishments and how she began to learn how to cope with mental health.  I personally would like to thank Selena Gomez for her courage and being such a good role model for others.  IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK

Netflix has just released the documentary about Lewis Capaldi, “How I’m Feeling Now.”  This truly is a must watch in my opinion. He was recently interviewed by the AP News organization about the documentary and he said the release of it makes him feel “naked.”  After watching the documentary I believe he should be so proud of himself.  Here is a Scottish male performer who reached acclaim as a singer-songwriter at a very young age.  Now at the age of 26 he is sharing the obstacles he has faced in his life from depression, anxiety and being diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome.  Lewis’s story drew me in and I empathized with him and truly appreciated him sharing his life with the viewers.  The courage and the strength that it takes as a male in today’s society to show that you have mental health struggles is commendable.  I think about all of his fans and by watching this documentary they will know it is ok to need help and to get help. IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK

This past weekend I watched an interview with singer-songwriter Jewel.  Jewel came from an abusive background, was homeless as a teen, suffered from agoraphobia and panic attacks. I suggest you take a read of her story, it is very enlightening.  What fascinated me about her is what she has created from her life’s obstacles.  Jewel has created along with other professionals a site in the metaverse called the “Inner World.”  This site is pure genius and evolutionary. The “Inner World” in the metaverse is where you can remain anonymous if you chose. “Inner World'” is a resource that can turn your life around, to be able to cope and lead a productive life.  There is group therapy, meditation, dealing with anxiety, coping with stress, depression and other mental health issues.  The site has monthly calendars with days and times that you can join virtual groups anonymously to receive self-help from peers and professionals.  This site is truly innovative and accessible to anyone who feels that they need guidance with their mental health.  IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK

The world is changing and evolving since Covid-19.  Mental Health is in the forefront of many discussions at the work place, schools and in the family unit.  I see this as a true blessing because the world is opening up to the thought process that

IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK

I would like to thank Selena Gomez, Lewis Capaldi and Jewel for being brave enough to let the world know that celebrities are human, vulnerable, not perfect , struggle and have learned to cope with mental health in their individual lives.  I believe that they each have taken their good fortune with their careers and put it to good use by being role models for their audiences and fan base.  Thank you for showing “Your Inner Strength.”
